My Recovery Story

I have been in recovery for approximately 13 years.  20 years ago I was on a back ward of an Iowa State Hospital.  Since then I have quit drug and alcohol usage, smoking, and changed my maladaptive behaviors such as manipulating, crisis creation, self-sabotage, and self-abuse.  Currently, I am married to a woman committed to recovery, work a part-time job, serve as a mentor to my wife's sons including a special needs son, and am a role model for others.

I feel that others can benefit from my story because I have done nothing really phenomenal, just participating in the day-to-day grind of life while meeting life on life's terms.
